When I began planning my wedding many years ago, a lot of thought and deliberation went into all the details to make my special day one to remember, but when it came time to decide on a honeymoon destination for me it was a no-brainer, Walt Disney World! Having visited several times as a child with my family, the magic of Disney had seeped into my blood. For me, I could think of no better way to start my new life with my husband than by sharing with him this place that had become so special to me. Okay, setting all corny sentiments aside, Walt Disney World is host to some fantastic resorts: There are currently more than 25 beautifully themed resorts to choose from. Whimsical resorts such as POP Century Resort, Art of Animation or All-Star Music Resort offer a playful setting for couples who are truly kids at heart.
Disney’s moderate resorts have a more tranquil feel. You can relax and unwind in a Caribbean setting at Caribbean Beach Resort. Stroll alongside a canal from the bayou to the French Quarter at Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quarter, or enjoy the south west flair of Coronado Springs.
If luxury is on your agenda, you may want to indulge at one of Disney’s Deluxe resorts. Extravagantly and diversely themed, You can relish in the exotic views of the Animal Kingdom Lodge, experience the elegant charm of The Boardwalk Inn, or celebrate in the lush tropical South Pacific themed Polynesian Village resort. Submerge yourself in the decedent elegance of The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, offering white sandy beaches, immaculately maintained gardens and superb spa services.
Walt Disney World also offers a diverse array of dining experiences with over 140 options to choose from, ranging from elegant gourmet cuisine to character dining experiences and dinner shows. These are just a few of my favorites:
Le Cellier Steak House is a charming eatery with stone arches and dark woods and hosts a wonderful selection of Canadian wine and beer. Menu options are à la carte and include the signature cheddar cheese soup and filet mignon with wild-mushroom risotto and truffle–butter sauce, seared lamb loin with mustard jus, and salmon with beluga lentils and bacon gastrique. Finish with crème brûlée made with maple sugar.
California Grill, a grand hotel restaurant high atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, receives high marks for its impeccable food, stellar wine list and bountiful brunch, but the bird’s eye view of the Magic Kingdom and its surrounding locales simply cannot be ignored. Whether you indulge in its top-notch sushi or build-your-own-bloody maries, California Grill offers an incredible perspective that continues to enthrall Disney fans, particularly with its prime viewing area for evening fireworks over the castle.
Entertainment at Walt Disney World is almost endless, whether you would just like to stroll through Disney Springs where, on any given night, there are musicians set up throughout for your listening enjoyment, or take in one of the fantastic dinner shows.
Hoop De Doo review, one of my favorites. This show is located at Pioneer Hall in Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. This vaudeville style show is filled with singing, dancing, jokes, corny puns, and lots of audience interaction. The meal is a big part of this show, serving fried chicken, ribs, corn bread, baked beans and strawberry short cake for desert! Beer and sangria is also included in your admission. I have seen this show many times, and always leave laughing!
Walt Disney World also sports 3 golf courses, with 18 hole championship layouts suitable for golfers of all skill levels. You may want to consider taking in one of the many special events and tours offered through out the year. Springtime offers the International Flower and Garden festival. In the fall, take in the International Food and Wine Festival, and in the winter enjoy the Christmas celebrations with a Very Merry Christmas Party! Go on safari or snorkel with the Dolphins on one of Disney’s private tours. The possibilities are endless!
There is now also a Walt Disney World Honey Moon Registry to help your wedding guests get involved with planning your ultimate dream vacation. Your guests can go to your registry and choose experiences such as the ones I have mentioned above, park hopper tickets, money towards your accommodations, the Disney Dining Plan and so much more. https://disney.honeymoonwishes.com/
If staying in the Disney bubble is not your cup of tea but are hoping for the kind of honey moon that offers superb accommodations, attention to detail and a touch of magic that Disney is famous for, you may want to consider some of Disney’s other options such as Aulani Resort located on the Island of Oahu Hawaii, Disney Cruise Line or Adventures by Disney providing access to extraordinary opportunities that are not available to the general public with destinations spanning the globe.
If you are interested in planning your ultimate Disney Honey Moon or special anniversary the agents at Castle Connections Travel would love to help, and best of all our services are free to you!
