Universal Studio’s has announced a limited-time ticket deal to its 2018 Halloween Horror Nights event as well as the dates for its after-hours scare fest. The ticket, now on sale to the public for $77.99, grants admission on two select event nights at Universal Studios theme parks between Sept. 14 and Nov. 3.
Saturday evenings are not included in the deal, which remains on sale through June 6.
Universal has not unveiled details about its trademark haunted houses. A news release sent Thursday indicates that there will be nine “all-new” mazes and five scare zones. “Guests brave enough to enter the event will encounter everything from iconic horror films to cult classics to terrifying hit TV shows to disturbing original stories,” the release says. It is also rumored that one of the new additions for this year could possibly be the Netflix cult classic Stranger Things. Universal released a string of tweets back in October referencing the infamous Upside Down which has fans wondering will there be a Universal /Stranger Things partnership?
One change expected to the HHN lineup is the elimination of the “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure” stage show. Universal said last year that it would be the final production of the comedy, which had been part of the event for more than two decades.
According to the Horror Nights website, the 2018 event dates are Sept. 14-16, 20-23, 28-30; Oct. 3-7, 10-14, 17-21, 24-28 and 31; and Nov. 1-3. That’s 34 evenings, the same number scheduled for the 2017 edition, which was said to be a record number of nights.
Halloween Horror Nights is an after-hours, extra-ticket event that’s not included in regular Universal Studios day admission. In the past, Universal has rolled out several ticket options, ranging from a single-night experience to multi-night passes with and without front-of-line access options. This event is highly anticipated and draws large crowds I strongly recommend adding express pass to your ticketing option for this event.
Universal also is offering a Horror Nights hotel package that includes a four-night stay, four days of park tickets to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay water park, HHN admission for two select nights if booked by June 6 and other benefits. That package pricing starts at $215 per person per night.
The resort also recently released the dates for its Christmas celebration, which I had the pleasure of attending this past December. Universal will begin its holiday programming on Nov. 17 and continue through Jan. 6. Returning to the 44-day event will be Mannheim Steamroller concerts, the Grinch-driven stage show, holiday-themed projections on Hogwarts castle at Islands of Adventure and The Macy’s Day parade through the streets of Universal Studios theme park.
